Feed Lingo’s 2nd time @ the inspirational ‘Internet World’ exhibition – Earls Court

April 28th, 2010

Another year, another thoroughly enjoyable, thought provoking and tiring trip down to the Internet World exhibition @ Earls Court.

This year, we were all struck by the focus on CMS tools and mobile app development. CMS tools have been developing rapidly, and the market leaders are all keen to empress why their system is the best. After being given the mega pitch all day from eager sales guys, I came away thinking how pleased I am with our system and excited about it’s possibilities, but keen to promote it, as my fondness for it has developed even further. As for the mobile and web application development, it was interesting to see the early developers battling it out for the foothold on which platform to use, with the iPhone and Android systems leading the way, but a strong case being put forward for developers to concentrate on web apps first and foremost which made perfect sense to me!

After learning the best way to tackle the hundreds of exhibits from last year, we spent time carefully researching new emerging techniques, tools and trends while also comparing products and prices for our existing service providers (such as hosts and email marketing systems) to the ones on show. It’s reassuring to hear from the experts that the ideas you have and techniques you use as a company are solid and popular and it’s always good to see examples of other companies working on the same principles.

We’re a few streets ahead when it comes to custom facebook pages – but more on that later!

All in all though, a useful day for all the team, with loads of ideas and inspirational resources to think about! (not to mention a massive selection of stressballs, pens, keyrings and other such freebies to help us remember those companies that want to be remembered…) – A special thanks to iomart. for the best give-aways of the day – fruit shaped stressballs and free fruit smoothies!!

Feed Downham Market Beauty Salon website launch

April 23rd, 2010
Edited by: Liz

The latest website from Lingo has been launched today for The Therapy Lounge in Downham Market.

The large, modern salon and hairdressers (favoured by the girls in the office here for sunbeds and beauty treatments) was taken over last year by new owner Amanda Anderson, and the website now reflects the new style of the salon and it’s friendly staff.

This site was a particularly exciting for lingo, as it was the first to be launched by our new junior developer Nick Coleby, along with the help of trained office manager Claire Yaxley, and features some of Nick and Claire’s excellent teamwork, as well as the usual mix of design and content by Liz and Steve.

There’s also a new facebook fan page to encourage visitors and customers alike to interact with the salon online.

We wish Amanda all the best and hope her new website helps many more locals get to know about their great salon…!

Feed Lingo on the beach

With the sun in the sky and the weather on the turn, we headed off to Hunstanton, not for a jolly along the beach but for the official press release for the Lifestyles Festival 2010 .

Okay, so the press release was on the beach (and was quite a giggle) but we still had to work, there was a photo shoot for some of the local pro’s with their kit, followed by an interview for Liz with DJ’s Simon Rowe and Adi Linton, (easy for Liz as she used to work with the guys at the radio station!) and a shoot for all the people that have helped move this event to the next level. This was a great day to see all of those people come together and at the heart of the event location.

With the Pro’s, the organisers of the Lifestyles Festival, KL.FM, and Lingo Design all down at the beach in the sun, we had great fun taking pictures, on what seems to be the best day of the year, weather wise, so far!

Now hosting the British Kite Surfing Association National Championships and the UK Windsurfing Association National Championships, there is a lot of excitement in the salt air for Lifestyles 2010.

The event is a 3 day event starting on the 9th of July to the 11th and hosted on Hunstanton beach, with BMXing, Skateboarding, Parkour, Inline Skating, Live Music and so much more. Most importantly, it’s FREE so there’s no excuses not to make it along! (and if you can’t – make sure you check the website for event pics! ;-) )

A quote to take note of by the master sign craftsman: Julian Cox of J.D’Signs, as he applies the new signage to the new Lingo office windows!
