The spring sun is finally shining, which, to the customers of BuyWind&Solar.co.uk means they’re likely to be generating their own free power!

Working with Jim and Sarah at Electra-mek, (the parent company) was enlightening for Lingo as we got to know about the ins and outs of PhotoVoltaic power generation and the new flexible solar panels for sale through their ecommerce platform.

As usual, the set up of the site involved careful consultation, software training and technical support, as the categories, images and product descriptions were uploaded by the web-team.

Feed As Fresh As A Daisy!

Every now and again, it’s good to have a website update to keep things feeling fresh. Sites which stay the same year in year out lose visitors and feel dated and neglected, as well as performing poorer in search engines as they age.

LingoLiz's desk covered in bouquets of flowers from

Elizabeth’s florist in Downham Market was due for a bit of a bit of a ‘spruce up’, and owner Kate Shipp decided she also wanted to be able to update her site herself in the future, to keep it feeling as fresh as her flowers. There’s lots of ways to achieve this; varying in complexity from a fully editable site with a CMS through to WordPress site and down to just designating a few selected areas of the site for updating such as ‘news’, ‘next event’s or ‘special offers’.

It didn’t take long to help Kate go through the options, and decide that the best solution for her business was to create a new facebook business page and for us to integrate the activity feed from facebook into to the new homepage, meaning that she could upload new pictures of flowers to facebook which would then appear on the site.

The site had a general graphic design update including a new colour scheme, new header font to match the shop signage, a new enquiry from and photography of  beautiful hand-tied bouquets, which we did here at Lingo. We love taking photos, especially when the subject matter decorates the desks as nicely as these roses and gerberas did! View the site here.

Feed Site For Sales

countybusinesssales homepage screenshotWorking with County Business Sales owners Phillip and Joyce Plant was not only incredibly interesting but, despite the seemingly serious business topic it was also a very enjoyable build, involving plenty of coffee and chat sessions, as we got to the bottom of the new website requirements.

Self-confessed technophobes;  the husband and wife team based in King’s Lynn were looking to set up a simple new site to represent their independent business as confidential business transfer agents, (or, in layman’s’ terms; helping those who want to buy or sell businesses) but felt they needed a helping hand to get through all the technical know-how.

It wasn’t long though, before, as well overcoming their website worries, the ‘static’ (non  editable) website was launched, and going one step further; Joyce and Phillip got County Business Sales onto facebook and started putting together a social networking strategy for the business online! Check out their new site  http://countybusinesssales.com/ or say hello on facebook!

The latest Lingo website launch; EastCoast FMX (motocross freestyle stunt team from Ipswich) didn’t need a ramp to get off the ground (puntastic) but the site does feature an animation for the stunt ramp display set up, as well as an embedded motocross game, up to date team news, a twitter feed and a custom error page (404 page)
http://www.ecfmx.co.uk/error-page.html) so that you don’t crash into an ugly error page  (oops there I go again)!

Team owner Phill Bloomfield and partner Carra Owen were quick to pick up on the easy-to-use WordPress site, and have already started adding new posts and gaining followers from their new Facebook page, all helping to generate a 1581.25% increase in their site traffic, as you can see from the graph from Google below!

Why not have a look – tell us if you think it’s wheelie good… www.ecfmx.co.uk  !

Feed Construction Website… Build Complete…!

PKS Construction home page screenshot

Please excuse the pun, but when building a website for a builder, you can’t help but draw comparisons in terminology! Plans, foundations, platform, frames, construction and layout – just some of the lingo that websites and building construction share.

Working with PKS Construction it became clear that the attention to detail in all that they do, needed to be the focus of their website. With that in mind, a portfolio of property photography by Lingo’s newest team member Dan plays a major part of the page layout, showcasing the varied properties and the detail of each build. With site design and search engine friendly text by Steve and Liz respectively, the images take centre stage to deliver the kerb appeal… (there we go again!) -Why not take a look… http://www.pksconstruction.co.uk/
